Stillborn is a serious roleplaying HellCore MOO with themes of the post-apocalypse, gothic fantasy, and Lovecraftian horror. It takes after games such as Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead and NEO Scavenger more than it does hack-and-slash RPG designs.

(taken from the MUD Connector listing)

Stillborn is set on Genova, a planet twin to Earth. Rising political tensions and further devastating effects of climate change on Earth had led to Genova being immediately considered as an escape plan option for planetary colonization in 2162 once it was discovered to be mostly terrestrial in nature. The original away team of colonists learned that Genova wasn't uninhabited and displayed evidence of the supernatural and paranormal, with such reports being disregarded as the results of insanity by research teams on Earth. On the mark of 2222, the remaining colonists and the tribal Genovan humans they'd managed to make peace with observed the destruction of Earth by fierce dark energy from the heavens. The event in question is widely regarded as the End of Days.

The colonists set to attempting to build civilizations on Genova, introducing morals, concepts, aspects of culture, and the little technology that remained from Earth that they were able to bring with them. There was a brief period of peace on the planet for a hundred years, but as the original colonists died, the ideas of peace largely died with them, and the planet devolved once again into squabbling religious tribes of various shapes and sizes, now with the knowledge and capability of industry exploitation to make the damages worse.

Some parts of Genova remain civilized while others remain warzones or savage. Government greed makes survival a struggle in cities while scarcity makes survival a struggle everywhere else. Magic is considered standard practice to some and heresy to others, both scenarios only inciting further hatred from one person to the next as the gods looming over the planet demand servitude -- technology is generally regarded in the same lights.

Stillborn is currently considered OPEN BETA. All core systems are fully functional, but there isn't enough content for the game administration to be satisfied with labeling it a finished product.
