Medina is a text based MUD. One of the first to be fully translated to spanish, with a few areas in catalan. Set in a fantasy world heir of MERC based MUDs, but with different area ambience.
It's an easy and basic MUD, with a light learning curve, ideal for newcomers.
With little variabilty and loyal to MUD rules since 1995, allowing players some liberty (multi-playing, multi-char, etc.) and with gods (or admins) usually reachable and open to player matters. There's also a note system, which also allows players to leave messages to other players or staff.
Medina MUD started its journey on feb 1995 thanks to CAFIB (Club d'activitats de la FIB)a student association at the UPC Barcelona Computer Science College. Medina was very successful at final 90s/y2k start, with over 86 players online simultaneously oficially recorded nowadays, but some peaks over 100. When CAFIB dismantled the MUD, some players coded an ENVY (or SMAUG) based clone called Sidonia.
With the appearance of Facebook, some veteran players reunited, amongst them Zebru (an old Medina god from CAFIB) who still conserved early code, heavily modified by him in the last CAFIB era. So Zebru, IsIs and Sirius decided to reopen Medina in 2012, and the MUD has been active since then, with a few admin changes.
Actually, the MUD is run thanks to DMK (coder) and Gozer (builder), with some bug corrections and improvements mostly, eager to maintain the easyness and original spirit from the old Medina.
